Candidates seeking Indian-to-NRI conversion must submit required documents by June 22, 2025
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has officially opened the nationality conversion window for candidates appearing in Round 1 of the NEET MDS 2025 counselling.
Candidates claiming Non-Resident Indian (NRI) status and seeking to convert their nationality from ‘Indian’ to ‘NRI’ must submit the necessary supporting documents by June 22, 2025, as per the MCC’s latest notification, reportedmedicaldialogues.in.
The documents must be emailed within the stipulated deadline to the official email address mentioned in the notice. Submissions made before or after the designated time will not be considered. Candidates are instructed to include all required documents in a single email, and ensure that certificates are either in English or accompanied by an English translation.
Only candidates who submit valid NRI documents by June 22 will be provisionally considered for NRI category seats in NEET MDS 2025 counselling
The list of required documents includes:
- Passport or Visa of the sponsor confirming NRI status
- Proof of relationship between the candidate and the sponsor
- A notarised affidavit from the sponsor promising to cover the full course fee
- Embassy Certificate of the sponsor issued within the last 6 months
- NEET MDS Score Card
- Notarised Family Tree issued by the Tehsildar
The MCC clarified that the conversion from ‘Indian’ to ‘NRI’ status is provisional, subject to document verification by the allotted college at the time of admission. The Embassy Certificate may also be forwarded to the Ministry of External Affairs or relevant High Commissions for further verification. If any document is found to be fake, the candidate’s provisional allotment may be cancelled, and legal action could follow.
In a related update, MCC has released the list of provisionally eligible candidates for MDS Round 1 counselling for the 2024-25 academic year. A total of 50 candidates have been temporarily granted NRI status based on document review. These candidates must present original documents at the time of reporting to confirm their admission.
