The Indian New Year (Harvest Month) celebrations on 19 January 2025 brought together migrant workers and locals in Singapore for a day-long event filled with cultural performances and a spirit of unity. Organized by Mett.AI in collaboration with the Indian High Commission, Ministry of Manpower, and Assurance, Care and Engagement (ACE), the event at Kranji Recreation Centre featured over 50 local artists and 2,000 migrant workers performing vibrant cultural acts reflective of India’s harvest season, reported timesofindia.indiatimes.com.

Uniting communities through culture, gratitude, and shared traditions

The event was graced by Mrs. Pooja M. Tillu, Deputy High Commissioner, and Mr. Tung Yui Fai, Chief of ACE, alongside generous contributions from sponsors like Obayashi, Sian Chay, Lulu Money, and organizations like Google, POSB, and Singtel. The Red Cross Society, Migrant Workers Centre, The Art of Living, and the Isha Foundation further enhanced the celebrations.

Attendees enjoyed authentic harvest-themed activities, including Pongal celebrations, a cattle show, and a delightful culinary experience featuring meals from Krsna Meals and Balaji Vegetarian Restaurant. Volunteers provided goodie bags, sugarcane juice, and snacks, fostering a festive atmosphere.

Prominent voices like Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar emphasized inclusivity and harmony, reflecting Singapore’s commitment to cultural cohesion. Mett.AI founder Ganesh Somwanshi highlighted the event as a testament to Singapore’s ethos of equality and community development.

This remarkable celebration strengthened bonds between migrant workers and the local community, exemplifying gratitude and cultural pride as Singapore welcomed 2025 with a shared spirit of unity.
