Naqa Salt Project to produce 2 million tonnes annually in 109 sq km concession
Muscat: Mineral Development Oman (MDO) has entered into an agreement with an Indian company to jointly develop the Naqa Salt Project, marking a significant step in enhancing Oman’s industrial mineral output, reported meed.com.
Strategically located in MDO’s 51K concession, the Naqa Salt facility will span 109 square kilometres and is expected to generate up to 2 million tonnes of salt annually.
The partnership is part of Oman’s broader strategy to boost value-added mineral projects and foster international collaboration in the mining sector.
The salt produced at Naqa will cater to both domestic demand and global export markets, positioning Oman as a competitive player in industrial salt production.
The Naqa project is expected to contribute significantly to job creation, infrastructure development, and local supply chains in the Sultanate. It also reflects MDO’s commitment to sustainable and diversified economic growth through the mining sector.
This collaboration is aligned with Oman Vision 2040, aiming to transform the nation into a leading hub for industrial innovation and mineral development.
