MoS Kirti Vardhan Singh connects with Indian community at ‘Bharat Milan’ in Egypt

The visit reaffirmed India’s commitment to deepening its partnership with Egypt and engaging actively with the Indian diaspora across the region

Union Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh interacted with the Indian diaspora during Bharat Milan, a vibrant cultural festival held in Obour City near Cairo, highlighting the strong and growing ties between India and Egypt.

Addressing members of the Indian community, Singh praised their contribution to strengthening people-to-people links and promoting India’s culture, values and development goals abroad. He underlined the important role played by overseas Indians in India’s journey towards a Viksit Bharat and said the diaspora acts as a bridge between nations, fostering mutual understanding and cooperation.

  • The symbolic gesture reflected India’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainable living. Singh also paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi, recalling the shared values of peace, non-violence and friendship that form the foundation of India-Egypt relations

During his official visit, Singh held meetings with senior Egyptian leaders to deepen bilateral cooperation. In discussions with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, both sides explored ways to further strengthen the India-Egypt Strategic Partnership. Key focus areas included pharmaceuticals, healthcare, trade, technology and tourism.

Talks with Manal Awad, Egypt’s Minister of Local Development and Environment, centred on sustainable development and collaboration in renewable energy. The two leaders exchanged views on rural development, modern agricultural practices and effective waste management solutions.

Singh also met Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit, where they discussed regional political and economic issues. The meeting also looked ahead to the second India-Arab Foreign Ministerial Meeting scheduled to be held in New Delhi.
