MoS Kirti Vardhan Singh on Mozambique and Zimbabwe visit

India to join Mozambique’s 50th Independence Day celebrations; visit aims to deepen bilateral ties and boost cooperation on climate and conservation

Minister of State for External Affairs and Environment, Forest & Climate Change,  Kirti Vardhan Singh undertook an official visit to the Republic of Mozambique and the Republic of Zimbabwe from June 21 to 28, 2025, as part of India’s continued diplomatic engagement with the African continent.

In Mozambique, MoS Singh will represent India at the official celebrations marking 50 years of the country’s independence on June 25.

The visit also coincides with the golden jubilee of India-Mozambique diplomatic relations. During his stay, the minister is scheduled to call on President H.E. Daniel Francisco Chapo and hold bilateral talks with Mozambique’s Foreign Minister to further enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Singh will also interact with the Indian diaspora in Maputo, which is home to a vibrant Indian community of nearly 25,000 people. Their contribution to the economic and cultural fabric of Mozambique remains an important element of bilateral ties.

Following his engagements in Mozambique, MoS Singh will travel to Zimbabwe, where he is expected to meet with the country’s top leadership, including several ministers and senior government functionaries. As part of his environment and climate-focused portfolio, the minister will visit the Kavango Zambezi (KAZA) Transfrontier Conservation Area and Victoria Falls to engage in discussions on conservation, wildlife protection, and climate change strategies.

The visit will also include an interaction with the Indian diaspora in Zimbabwe, further reinforcing India’s strong people-to-people connections across Africa.

The official tour is expected to significantly deepen India’s partnerships with Mozambique and Zimbabwe, particularly in diplomatic, environmental, and cultural spheres.
