Official visit aims to strengthen bilateral ties and explore new avenues for cooperation
Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, Pabitra Margherita, will embark on an official visit to Uruguay, Bahamas, Barbados, and Nicaragua from February 28 to March 8, 2025. This visit aims to enhance India’s diplomatic engagement and foster stronger bilateral partnerships with these nations.

During his visit, Pabitra Margherita will represent India at the swearing-in ceremony of Yamandu Orsi, President-elect of Uruguay, on March 1, 2025. This visit reflects India’s commitment to deepening diplomatic ties with the Oriental Republic of Uruguay.
Strengthening Diplomatic Engagement Across Four Nations
In the Bahamas, MoS will advance discussions initiated between the Indian Prime Minister and the Bahamian leadership during the 2nd India-CARICOM Summit in Guyana in November 2024. This engagement aims to reinforce mutual cooperation and strengthen bilateral relations.
In Barbados, Pabitra Margherita will review bilateral relations following the successful India-CARICOM Summit. A significant highlight of this visit will be the acceptance of the prestigious “Honorary Order of Freedom of Barbados” on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This honor was announced during the summit, recognizing India’s contributions to strengthening regional cooperation.
The visit to Nicaragua marks a historic milestone as it will be the first-ever ministerial visit from India’s Ministry of External Affairs. MoS will hold bilateral meetings aimed at expanding diplomatic outreach and fostering future collaboration between the two nations.
Engagement with Key Stakeholders and Indian Diaspora
Throughout his tour, MoS will engage with Foreign Ministers, political leaders, and representatives from trade and industry. He will also interact with members of the Indian diaspora and visit bilateral development partnership project sites, emphasizing India’s commitment to global cooperation.
Additionally, during his transit through São Paulo, Brazil, on February 27, 2025, MoS will participate in a business community event to explore new trade opportunities and deepen economic ties.
This multi-nation visit underscores India’s dedication to enhancing diplomatic and economic relations while opening new avenues for international cooperation and development.
