Two Indian nationals — one from Mumbai and another from Kuwait — have become overnight millionaires after winning $1 million each in the latest Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire draw, at Dubai International Airport, reported khaleejtimes.com.

The winners, Akshaypat Singhania from Mumbai and Srinivas Teja Reddy Gaddam from Kuwait, join an elite list of Indian expats who have struck gold in the long-running Dubai Duty Free promotion.

Akshaypat Singhania, 56, from Mumbai, won $1 million in Millennium Millionaire Series 520 with ticket #2837, which he purchased online on October 16. A real estate and equity investor and a father of three, Singhania has been participating in the draw for over 20 years.

“A very big thanks to Dubai Duty Free — finally, after so many years!” he said joyfully after learning of his win.

Joining him in the millionaire club is Srinivas Teja Reddy Gaddam, a 35-year-old cost controller for KBR Group in Kuwait, who won $1 million in Series 521 with ticket #2700, bought at Concourse C on October 17. “Thank you Dubai Duty Free! I feel that I’m the luckiest!” he said.

A previous winner, Mohammad Khan Barakzai from Afghanistan, who won Series 519, was also presented with his ceremonial cheque during the event — marking him as the first Afghan national to win since the promotion began in 1999

Alongside the millionaire winners, three UAE residents drove away with luxury prizes — including a BMW, Range Rover, and Indian motorbike — in the Finest Surprise draw.

In the Finest Surprise Series 1936, Sanjeev Karatil, a 45-year-old Indian health and safety inspector based in Dubai, won a BMW XM (Cape Green Metallic) car with ticket #1631, which he purchased online on October 13. A 17-year UAE resident, Sanjeev said he chose his ticket number based on his children’s birthdays.

“It’s amazing! I’m very very happy with this win, thank you Dubai Duty Free,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Qassim, a 50-year-old Emirati from Dubai, won a Range Rover Sport Dynamic SE P360 (Santorini Black) in Series 1937 with ticket #0660. A second-time car winner, Qassim previously won a Porsche Panamera GTS in 2022. He works as Head of Private Banking Service and Strategy at Emirates NBD and has been a regular participant in the promotion for a decade.

Lastly, Sameer Kunni Parambil, a 37-year-old Indian sales official in Al Quoz, won an Indian Super Scout (Maroon Metallic) motorbike with ticket #0547 in Series 642, purchased online on October 9. A Dubai resident for two years, Sameer said he was thrilled to finally win after regular participation.
