Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) continues to soar to new heights, marking an impressive growth trajectory in passenger traffic for October 2023. Bolstered by its exceptional connectivity and state-of-the-art infrastructure, the airport achieved a remarkable 107% recovery in passenger traffic compared to October 2019 (pre-pandemic), underscoring its leadership in aviation excellence.
In October 2023, CSMIA reported a robust 18% year-on-year growth, recording over 4.25 million passengers, a significant increase from October 2022 (3.6 Mn). The airport experienced a total of 28,459 Air Traffic Movements (ATMs), comprising 21,349 domestic ATMs and 7,110 international ATMs during the same period, reflecting a 2% growth compared to September 2023 (27,928).
Highlighting a standout performance, October 2nd witnessed the highest single-day traffic with 148,014 passengers. The international segment saw a notable 20% growth, with Dubai, London, and Abu Dhabi securing the top three spots as the most preferred international destinations. London, consistently holding the second position, displaced Singapore in recent months.
CSMIA’s Mumbai – Delhi route demonstrated a remarkable surge, registering a 22% growth in passenger traffic, totaling over 0.55 million passengers compared to October 2022 (0.45M).

In the international arena, Dubai, London, and Abu Dhabi retained their coveted positions. Notably, IndiGo, Air India, and Vistara dominated the domestic market share, while in the international sector, IndiGo, Air India, and Emirates maintained their leading positions.
CSMIA expanded its global connectivity with the introduction of new routes. Uganda Airlines initiated services on the Mumbai-Entebbe route from October 7th. Azerbaijan Airlines reinstated operations on the Mumbai-Baku route, and Air Canada resumed services on the Mumbai-London-Toronto route from October 30th. SpiceJet contributed to the diverse network by re-instating operations on the Bangkok route from October 21st.
