Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) has reached a major early milestone by handling more than one lakh passengers within just 19 days of starting commercial operations. The achievement highlights the strong response from travellers and the growing demand for air connectivity in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
According to official figures, by 12 January 2026, the airport had handled a total of 1,09,917 passengers. This included 55,934 arriving passengers and 53,983 departing passengers. The steady flow of travellers shows that NMIA has quickly found its place as an important new gateway for both business and leisure travel.

These numbers reflect a balanced growth in both scheduled airline services and private or chartered aviation
Baggage handling has also performed smoothly. In this short period, the airport processed 40,260 arriving bags and 38,774 departing bags, indicating efficient systems designed to improve passenger comfort and reduce waiting times.
Cargo operations have begun on a positive note as well. NMIA handled 22.21 tonnes of cargo, showing its intention to support not only passenger travel but also trade and logistics from the very beginning. This integrated approach is expected to benefit businesses and supply chains in the region.
In terms of connectivity, Delhi, Goa and Bengaluru emerged as the most popular routes, underlining strong links with key economic and tourist centres across India.
