PM Modi emphasized that Goa was not just a state of the country but also sent out a strong message to the world about Brand India
Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed foreign tourists to the country. In his interactions with healthcare workers and beneficiaries of the Covid vaccination programme in Goa, the Prime Minister praised Goa’s efforts to complete 100 per cent first vaccine dose coverage of all the eligible adult population. He emphasized that Goa was not just a state of the country but also sent out a strong message to the world about Brand India.
The PM was on a video conference when he mentioned that Goa had an important role in reviving the tourism sector, reported TOI. “Goa has joined the very few international tourist destinations in the world where people have got the protective shield of the vaccine. If the people of the hotel industry, taxi drivers, hawkers, shopkeepers and everyone are vaccinated, the tourists will also come here with a sense of security,” he said.
Goa ended curfew this Monday morning. However, the state has imposed a five-day quarantine for those entering from Kerala
PM Modi also said that the government had focused on the tourism sector in its vaccination campaign, though it was not talked about. “We did not say this in the beginning as it results in politicking. But it was very important that our tourism destinations open at the earliest. Now Char-Dham Yatra will be possible in Uttarakhand too. In the midst of all these efforts, 100 per cent vaccination in Goa becomes very special,” the PM was quoted saying. He also said: “We wish that there are tourist activities as before and tourists from all over the country and the world come and enjoy here in the next tourism season…The more the focus is on safety and hygiene the more tourists will come here. The Central Government is also committed to taking every step forward which will help in the rapid progress of the tourism sector of the country,” the Prime Minister said.
Meanwhile, the curfew that had been imposed by the state ended this Monday morning. However, Goa has imposed a 5-day quarantine for those entering from Kerala.
