White House coronavirus response coordinator Jeff Zients has said there was no decision yet about how to reopen international travel, whether to require international travellers to be fully vaccinated. This implies that the United States was considering other options.

The government has not yet made a final decision on travel restrictions.

“That is certainly under strong consideration, but it is under a policy process review right now,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said.

Covid-19 pandemic has made a comeback to the US with Delta variant

“While there hasn’t been a final decision made, how the interagency groups are looking at this is with the objective of taking steps that will return international travel at a moment when it’s appropriate. Right now, we’re not at that point because of the rise of the Delta variant, but we want to have a process in place for when we hit that moment,” Psaki said.

Earlier, multiple media outlets reported that the Biden administration is making Covid-19 vaccinations compulsory for foreign visitors.

It may be mentioned here that the Covid-19 pandemic has made a comeback to the US with its Delta variant.

Currently, this is the variant that accounts for an estimated 93.4 per cent of all new Covid-19 cases in the country, according to data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
