All travellers arriving in India, regardless of their Covid-19 vaccination status, from countries on the at-risk list, have to undergo the following post-arrival Covid-19 testing on arrival in India. That will include thermal screening by health officials at the airport. The self-declaration form filled online has to be shown to the airport health staff.
Passengers found to be symptomatic during screening would be isolated and taken to the medical facility as per health protocol. If tested positive, their contacts would be noted and managed as per the protocol.
The Government of India has mandated that a sub-section (2 per cent of the total passengers in the flight) would have to go through the random post-arrival testing at the airport. These travellers would be identified by the airlines (preferably from different countries). They will have to submit samples and then leave the airport.
There is a list of approved tests that have to be taken to prove if the travellers are infected or not, Other than RT-PCR, rapid PCR tests would also be accepted.
It should be noted that the 7-days home quarantine advisory has been replaced with “All travellers will self-monitor their health for the next 14 days of arrival.”, and they can move around in public.
Earlier, before arriving in India, all international travellers — whether citizen or visitor – would have to fill-up the Air Suvidha form. Also a RT-PCR negative report within 72 hours of boarding the plane was one of musts. This has been changed in the new requirements notified on February 10, 2022.
