US-based accused allegedly created a fake account to upload objectionable images of his former friend
The Ludhiana Rural police have registered a case against a US-based non-resident Indian (NRI) for allegedly creating a fake social media account and leaking objectionable photos of a woman from his native village. The complaint was filed at the cyber crime police station, reported hindustantimes.com.
The woman, now married, accused the NRI of harassment after their friendship ended
According to Inspector Rupinder Kaur, the investigating officer, the complainant, who is now married, alleged that her private images were uploaded online. She named the accused in her complaint, stating that they were previously friends and had taken pictures together before their friendship ended.
Police investigation reveals that the accused moved to the US after the woman got married
Authorities discovered that the accused relocated to the US after the woman married someone else. The complainant alleged that the images were intentionally leaked to harass and defame her. Based on her complaint, an FIR has been registered under Section 354 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for outraging a woman’s modesty and Section 67 of the Information Technology (IT) Act.
