Hyderabad-based NRI couple fulfills devotional vow with Rs 40 lakh silver Gaja Vahanam offering to Sri Sitarama Chandra Swamy Temple
Bhadrachalam: In a remarkable act of devotion, NRI couple Shankar Narayana and Rajyalakshmi from Hyderabad have donated a silver elephant chariot (Gaja Vahanam) to the Sri Sitarama Chandra Swamy Temple in Bhadrachalam, reported thehansindia.com.
The intricately designed chariot, weighing 31 kilograms of silver and valued at around Rs 40 lakh, was formally presented to temple authorities through Temple Executive Officer Damodar Rao.

According to temple officials, the couple had visited the sacred shrine in 2022, performed special pujas, and pledged to donate a silver vehicle to the deity as part of their spiritual vow. Honoring that promise, they offered the magnificent chariot to the temple on Sunday.
Temple priests announced that the newly donated Gaja Vahanam will be used during the annual Brahmotsavam celebrations and other major religious events, further adding to the grandeur of the temple’s traditions.
Expressing gratitude, Temple Executive Officer Damodar Rao commended the couple for their generous and pious contribution, noting that such acts of faith and devotion help preserve and enrich the spiritual heritage of the historic Bhadrachalam temple.
