According to the complaint, Rupinder married Narinder Singh on 5 February 2017 and later moved to Canada to live with him

She has alleged that soon after her arrival, she faced repeated demands for dowry and was subjected to mental and physical harassment by her husband and his family members

She further claimed that despite her objections, her husband and in-laws travelled to India several times, leaving her alone in Canada
A few months ago, when the family visited India, Rupinder accompanied them. However, after a dispute, the accused allegedly returned to Canada without informing her, leaving her behind without financial support or assistance.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Gurcharan Singh, the investigating officer, confirmed that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. These include charges of criminal breach of trust, cruelty by husband or relatives, criminal intimidation and criminal conspiracy.
