The sacred pilgrimage took a tragic turn, casting a shadow over what was meant to be a spiritual journey for the family
A tragic incident unfolded in Badrinath, Uttarakhand, when a 40-year-old non-resident Indian (NRI), Balraj Sethi, was swept away by the powerful current of the Alaknanda River.
Balraj, who had traveled from Malaysia with his father Suresh Chandra to offer prayers at the sacred Badrinath temple, was visiting the region as part of the Chardham Yatra.
The family, consisting of six members, arrived in India on September 14, specifically for the pilgrimage to the revered Himalayan temples
The incident occurred near the Gandhi Ghat in Badrinath Dham on Tuesday. Despite the swift rescue efforts of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Balraj remains untraceable. His father, however, was successfully rescued and admitted to Vivekananda Hospital for treatment.
