Indore, Madhya Pradesh, recently played host to the Indori NRI Summit, where the global Indian diaspora praised the city’s reputation for cleanliness and urged it to embark on a journey towards sustainable goals. Participants from over 32 countries, both in-person and virtually, gathered to share insights and suggestions for the city’s future.

Meenakshi from Dubai emphasized Indore’s unique standing, asserting, “If one city in India can strive for sustainability, it’s Indore. The commitment of its people knows no bounds, and they’ve proven time and again that the sky’s the limit.” Fellow UAE resident Sapna echoed these sentiments, advocating for initiatives promoting clean air and greenery.

The summit, inaugurated by Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav and Sanghchalak Rupesh Modh, attracted NRIs from the US, the UK, Singapore, Malaysia, UAE, and Australia. Indore-3 MLA Rakesh Golu Shukla, Collector Ilayaraja T, and other dignitaries graced the occasion, reinforcing Indore’s global standing.

Minister of State for External Affairs, Meenakshi Lekhi, virtually joined as the chief guest, attributing India’s global success to the tireless efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav highlighted Indore’s distinction as the only city organizing NRI summits and reassured participants that their suggestions would shape the city’s development plan.
