An Indian man living in the United States has set social media buzzing after posting a video comparing the burden of household chores abroad with the challenges of everyday life back home in India. Shared on Instagram by user ‘Factual Anil in Actual US’, the video carried the caption: “POV: You’re done with all the jhaadu–pocha, bartan–kapde… and still don’t wanna go back. Abroad chores = 100 reasons to complain, but India’s chaos = 1000 reasons to stay away, reported hindustantimes.com.”

The clip contrasts NRIs’ daily grind with India’s “chaos,” listing pollution, poor infrastructure, and unemployment among reasons many hesitate to return.

In the video, the creator humorously showcases the endless routine of sweeping, mopping, dishwashing, and laundry that immigrants often juggle without domestic help. Yet, instead of longing for home, he flashes a list of India’s deeper problems — including pollution, inadequate infrastructure, heavy workloads, debt, unemployment, low income, high expenses, and quality-of-life issues. The video wraps up with a witty sign-off: “So keep calm and do your kaam.”

The post has since sparked a wave of reactions online. Some NRIs agreed wholeheartedly, saying the struggles abroad are minor compared to India’s systemic challenges

One user commented, “Doing your own chores is never more trouble than the corruption and poor infrastructure that prevail in India.” Another said, “I totally agree… live outside for one year and you’ll realize the difference.”

Others, however, highlighted the emotional side of migration. “Abroad life has its advantages, yet the irony lies in the loneliness — far from family, unable to share joys and sorrows,” one user reflected. Another added, “Life in India may be chaotic, but it has its own charm. I miss my friends and family every day.”
