Odisha government releases control room numbers for 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas

The Odisha Government has set up control room numbers to streamline operations for the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD), which will take place from January 8 to 10, 2025, at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar , reported sambadenglish.com

Control room active from January 2 to 11 for queries and assistance related to the mega event

The control room, located at the Home Department, will operate using the contact numbers 0674 2390411 and 0674 2390811. It will remain functional from January 2 to 11, ensuring round-the-clock assistance for participants and visitors during the event.

Commemorating Gandhi’s Legacy and Engaging the Diaspora

The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas celebrates the arrival of Mahatma Gandhi from South Africa on January 9, 1915. Established in 2003, the event honors the contributions of the Indian diaspora to the nation’s development. Since 2015, the PBD convention has been held biennially, fostering stronger connections between the overseas Indian community and India while reconnecting them with their cultural roots

This year’s theme, “Diaspora’s Contribution to a Viksit Bharat,” underscores the pivotal role of NRIs in shaping India’s progress

  • The 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is set to be a grand celebration featuring prominent dignitaries, including President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several Union Ministers, and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended a personal invitation to the Indian community during his visit to Kuwait in December 2024, emphasizing India’s position as a global development hub and growth engine.

  • The 17th edition of the convention was held in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, in January 2023, focusing on the theme “Diaspora: Reliable Partners forIndia’s Progress in Amrit Kaal”

  • The 2025 event aims to build on this foundation, with the Indian government encouraging large-scale participation from the diaspora.
