Oman has emerged as a crucial transit hub during the current Middle East crisis, helping several countries evacuate their citizens from the region.

Governments including the United Kingdom, Singapore, Japan and Ireland are using Oman as a departure point for repatriation flights. The country’s stable environment and well-connected airports make it an ideal location for emergency travel operations.

Authorities in Oman have confirmed that airports in Muscat, Salalah and Sohar are operating around the clock. This continuous operation allows evacuation flights to arrive and depart at any time.

The move is particularly important for British nationals living across the Gulf. More than 130,000 UK citizens have registered their presence in the region, according to official figures.

  • Oman is also promoting itself as an alternative travel gateway into the Gulf

  • From Muscat, travellers can continue their journeys by land to other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries if necessary

The country’s neutral diplomatic position and reliable infrastructure have strengthened its role as a humanitarian corridor during the crisis.

Airlines and international authorities are working closely with Omani airports to manage the additional traffic. Despite the increased demand, officials say airport operations remain stable and fully functional.

For many travellers, Oman has become a safe and organised exit route from a region facing growing uncertainty.
