Air India Express (AIE) will operate an additional flight between Trichy and Kuwait from June 25. The new service will be operated on Saturdays. AIE has weekly services on Tuesdays.
AIE earlier operated two services from 1999 to October 2007 though they were terminated.
A B Khaleel Ahmed Baaqavee, general secretary of Kuwait Tamil Islamic Committee (K-Tic) had asked AIE to operate additional services in the sector as it had a huge potential.
“Lakhs of people from Tamil Nadu, particularly from the central region of the state are working here. As there is huge patronage in this sector, any one of the services should be extended as a daily. All the services would fetch good reception,” Baaqavee had said.
