Operation Sindhu: IAF brings home 268 more indians

Total repatriations rise to 594 as India intensifies evacuation efforts under Operation Sindhu

 The Indian Air Force (IAF) continued its mission to evacuate Indian nationals stranded in war-affected Israel, bringing home 268 citizens aboard a C-17 aircraft from Sharm-El-Sheikh, Egypt, on June 24. This marks the second IAF flight of the day and brings the total number of Indian nationals repatriated from Israel to 594 under Operation Sindhu, reported gujaratsamachar.com.

Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs L. Murugan received the returnees at New Delhi airport, expressing the government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety of its citizens abroad. Earlier in the day, another IAF flight carrying 165 Indians had already landed in the capital.

 

IAF’s C-17 aircraft brings home 268 more Indians from Egypt; MEA and MoS Murugan lead coordinated Operation Sindhu efforts.

According to a statement by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), “268 Indian nationals who returned in the third flight from Israel were received by MoS L. Murugan. The IAF C-17 flight from Sharm-El-Sheikh, Egypt, landed in Delhi at 1100 hrs on June 24.”

Operation Sindhu, spearheaded by the Government of India, aims to evacuate Indians not just from Israel but also from Iran. The operation began on June 23, with the first flight taking off from Amman, Jordan, and landing in New Delhi on the morning of June 24, carrying 161 Indian citizens.

The IAF’s involvement has expanded the scope of Operation Sindhu, also assisting citizens of friendly nations including Nepal and Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, the evacuation from Iran continues in parallel, with 2,295 Indian nationals already brought back.

MoS Murugan reiterated, “We are closely monitoring the situation and are committed to providing all possible and necessary assistance to our citizens in Iran and Israel. Under Operation Sindhu, all the nationals are arriving safely.”
