There seems to be no end to the scores of images flashing across TV screens soon after India’s steamroller, 61-run win against a dismally washed-out Pakistan side on Sunday, Feb 15, in the ongoing T20 Cricket series in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

But there was one that aptly captures the post-match anger, frustration and disgust of Pakistan fans in the most comical way.

Aired by CNN, the video clip showed a large section of Pakistani young men, all standing to attention and correctly singing with full-throated gusto, the Indian National Anthem.

It was perhaps the most befitting way the bitter Pakistani fans could think of to mock the disgraceful performance of the Pakistani team

Before their singing, some shouted: “Even kids playing street cricket could do better than the Pakistani team”.

Another commented “Don’t call Pakistani batsman Babar Azam ‘King’.  There is only one King – Virat Kohli”.

And then all of them chorused in unison “Kohli, Kohli, Kohli”.

Many fans lamented that it would’ve been better if Pakistan had stuck to their earlier decision to boycott the current T20 series altogether.

Many of the fans told CNN that as cricket lovers they had travelled from different countries, only so that they could witness first-hand the high-voltage drama; something that once was such an essential part off every India-Pakistan cricket match.

“But sadly, all that is over as far as Pakistan cricket is concerned. Maybe it’s time for our cricketers to take up less challenging games.”

Many fans lamented that it would’ve been better if Pakistan had stuck to their earlier decision to boycott the current T20 series altogether.

“At least that would have spared them this disgrace, and for us all the shame, disappointment and jeers that we’re now facing as Pakistanis from the rest of the crowds”
