Preparations for the grand Pravasi Bharatiya Divas celebrations, set to take place in Bhubaneswar from January 8, 2025, are in their final stages. The event marks a significant milestone for the city, hosting thousands of overseas Indians and dignitaries from across the globe, reported sambadenglish.com.

Citywide efforts focus on sanitation, beautification, and cultural attractions to ensure an unforgettable experience for international guests

Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mohapatra conducted an extensive inspection of key locations, including the Airport Chowk, Nandankanan, and Janata Maidan. His review covered the city’s sanitation, road conditions, and ongoing beautification projects. To highlight Odisha’s rich cultural heritage, roadside walls have been adorned with traditional paintings, and public spaces have undergone meticulous cleaning and enhancements

The Minister issued directives to engineers to address potholes, uneven road surfaces, and neglected areas immediately. He emphasized the importance of painting trees and fences to elevate the city’s aesthetic appeal. Special cultural experiences have been planned, including a food festival and tribal fair at the exhibition grounds to showcase traditional Odia cuisine

Guests will also have the opportunity to visit Puri’s Jagannath Temple. Double-decker buses have been arranged for NRIs to enjoy the journey and partake in the temple’s sacred offerings. The initiative aims to provide a holistic experience, blending Odisha’s spiritual essence with its vibrant culture

Following his field visit, the Minister called upon corporate entities, local businesses, and residents to join hands in maintaining cleanliness and enhancing the city’s visual charm. He expressed confidence in Bhubaneswar’s ability to leave a lasting impression on its international visitors

“Our goal is to create an unforgettable experience for our overseas guests. Bhubaneswar is not only a city of heritage and culture, but also one of warmth and hospitality. I urge all stakeholders to contribute to presenting our city in its best light,” Mohapatra said

Senior officials, including BMC Commissioner Rajesh Prabhakar Patil and BDA Vice Chairman Tirumala Nayak, accompanied the Minister during the inspection, reinforcing the city’s commitment to the event’s success
