Ursula von der Leyen to hold talks with PM Modi during her third visit to India
At the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, accompanied by the European Union College of Commissioners, will undertake an official visit to India on February 27-28, 2025.
This will be Ursula von der Leyen’s third visit to India, following her bilateral visit in April 2022 and her participation in the G20 Leaders’ Summit in September 2023.
The visit is significant as it will be the first time the EU College of Commissioners travels together to India and one of their earliest foreign visits since the current European Commission took office in December 2024 after the European parliamentary elections in June 2024.
This marks the first collective visit of the EU College of Commissioners to India
Strengthening India-EU Strategic Partnership
During the visit, Prime Minister Modi will hold delegation-level talks with President Ursula von der Leyen to discuss enhancing India-EU cooperation across various sectors.
The visit will also feature the second ministerial meeting of the India-EU Trade and Technology Council, along with bilateral ministerial meetings between European Commissioners and their Indian counterparts.
India and the European Union have been strategic partners since 2004, with relations expanding across diverse fields. As both sides enter the third decade of their partnership, this visit is expected to deepen cooperation and reinforce mutual interests.
