Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam’s first overseas bilateral visit in current term to focus on strengthening India-Mauritius strategic ties
Prime Minister of Mauritius, H.E. Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam, will undertake a State Visit to India from September 9 to 16, 2025. This will mark his first overseas bilateral visit in his current term. Dr. Ramgoolam had last visited India in May 2014, when he attended the swearing-in ceremony of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers as the only non-SAARC leader.
Ramgoolam will meet President Droupadi Murmu and hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to deepen the ‘Enhanced Strategic Partnership’
During the visit, Prime Minister Ramgoolam will call on Rashtrapati Droupadi Murmu and hold discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi aimed at advancing the India-Mauritius ‘Enhanced Strategic Partnership.’ He will also visit Mumbai, Varanasi, Ayodhya, and Tirupati. In Mumbai, he is expected to participate in a high-level business event.
India and Mauritius enjoy a deep-rooted relationship anchored in history, culture, and strong people-to-people ties. As a key maritime neighbor in the Indian Ocean Region, Mauritius is central to India’s Vision MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Region) and the ‘Neighbourhood First Policy.’ Mauritius also remains an important partner in shaping the Global South agenda.
The upcoming visit follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s trip to Mauritius in March 2025, underscoring the commitment of both nations to further elevate their strategic and cultural cooperation.
