In a significant stride towards combating climate change and fostering environmental consciousness, the Embassy of India in Muscat effectively concluded a week-long awareness campaign as part of the Mission Life (Lifestyle for Environment) initiative.

Running from August 13 to August 19, 2023, the campaign encompassed a series of impactful activities and events designed to underscore the imperative of transitioning from wasteful consumption to responsible resource utilisation.

Launched on October 20, 2022, by the Indian Prime Minister, Mission Life envisions a global movement towards mindful consumption and environmental preservation. The initiative addresses the pressing challenges of climate change and global warming by motivating individuals to embrace eco-friendly practices in their day-to-day lives.

Commencing on August 13, 2023, the week-long campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 100 environmental enthusiasts and prominent members of the Indian community in Oman. The program commenced with a screening of a message from the Prime Minister, reiterating the fundamental principles of Mission Life. Indian Ambassador Amit Narang, in his address, emphasized the urgency of addressing climate change and highlighted the pivotal role of Mission Life in achieving this imperative goal.

In addition to these efforts, the embassy further championed healthy lifestyles through yoga sessions under the Mission Life banner. Held within the embassy premises, these sessions enabled participants to reconnect with their physical and mental well-being

On August 14, Ambassador Narang set a compelling example by planting a ‘Tulsi’ plant within the embassy premises, encouraging officials to replicate this initiative in their homes for a healthier future. The momentum continued as the embassy celebrated India’s Independence Day on August 15, hosting a gathering of over 600 guests. In his address, the Ambassador underscored the significance of sustainable living through Mission Life, urging the audience to embrace its seven core themes. He also shed light on the health benefits of Millets, especially relevant as the world celebrates the International Year of Millets.

A standout event occurred on August 16 when the Indian School Wadi Kabir (ISWK) orchestrated a grand event as part of their commitment to promoting Mission Life. During this event, students took center stage by presenting exhibits dedicated to each theme of Mission Life. These exhibits acted as powerful platforms to convey practical solutions for energy conservation, water preservation, sustainable food systems, and more.

The event was further enriched by cultural performances aimed at raising awareness about the significance of sustainable living. Addressing the students, Ambassador Narang stressed the importance of adopting minor lifestyle changes that collectively contribute to a greener future. On August 17, several Indian schools in Oman organized awareness campaigns under Mission Life, championing sustainable living and environmental mindfulness.

In addition to these efforts, the embassy further championed healthy lifestyles through yoga sessions under the Mission Life banner. Held within the embassy premises, these sessions enabled participants to reconnect with their physical and mental well-being.

The Embassy of India in Muscat remains steadfast in its commitment to advancing the principles of Mission Life and fostering a sustainable and resilient future for all.
