As part of the programme of its 18th edition, held under the theme ‘The Future Starts Now’, Abu Dhabi Festival announces that registration is now open for the Emirates Youth Symphony Orchestra (EYSO) concert, to be held in the Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre at the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai, on October 23
In collaboration with EYSO, the concert will present some of the UAE’s brightest young musicians who will showcase their unique talent and perform a repertoire of Beethoven, Camille Saint-Saëns and George Bizet.

The ensemble will be conducted by famed violinist Maestro Riad Kudsi, known for his contributions to the development of musical culture in the Middle East and Europe. The orchestra will also feature young virtuoso violinist Guido Felipe Sant’Anna e Silva from Brazil.
Maestro Kudsi commented: “We are proud to collaborate with Abu Dhabi Festival with whom we share common values and objectives to promote peace and love in the world through the UAE, a country that has become a beacon of inclusiveness and tolerance particularly during the recent pandemic and crisis the world has gone through.
We believe in the role of music in sending powerful messages of positivity, and the upcoming concert is a testament to this, especially as it will be performed by young talents.”
The 90-minute eclectic ensemble will play Georges Bizet’s Carmen Prelude, George Frideric Handel’s Collection of Works, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Vales from theSleeping Beauty (edited by Riad Kudsi), J. Brahms’ Hungarian dances, K. Jenkins’ Benedictus & Palladio, Arr. R. Kudsi’s traditional Arabic song Muwashah Lamma Bada Yatathanna, a flute solo by Sampurna Choudhury and a qanoon solo by Hana Boukhris, followed by Beethoven’s Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, and much-awaited violin solos by Guido Sant’Anna.

EYSO is a unique group of young musicians in the UAE and the Arab world, devoted to cultivating the musical talent of young people by creating a cultural and artistic environment for them and their audiences.
Founded in 1994 and directed by Riad Kudsi, it is one of the earliest classical music groups in the UAE. The orchestra is known for its world-class players and has an accreditation with the Premiere Music College of Prague.
Over the years, more than 500 violinists have joined the EYSO and the National Conservatory under the tutelage of Mr. Kudsi, and several of them have continued higher education in music universities abroad to become world-renowned musicians.
