MEA tells Lok Sabha about growing incidents of anti-India graffiti on temples in the US
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday raised serious concern over the increasing number of vandalism incidents targeting Hindu temples in the United States. These acts, often marked with anti-India graffiti, have been reported more frequently in recent months, reported timesofindia.indiatimes.com.
“The government accords the highest priority to the welfare and security of the Indian community abroad,” said Minister of State Kirti Vardhan Singh.
Responding to a written query in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh confirmed that the Indian government is closely monitoring the situation and pursuing the matter through diplomatic channels
He noted that Indian consulates in the US have been actively engaging with temple management bodies and community leaders who have filed complaints with local law enforcement. These acts are being investigated as hate crimes by US authorities.
Singh added that several US lawmakers have also spoken out, urging federal and state agencies to implement a comprehensive approach to curb rising hate crimes against Hindus in America.
