Visa-free entry for Indian tourists to Russia from June 2025 aims to boost tourism and strengthen ties
Russia’s Ministry of Economic Development has announced that Indian passport holders will be eligible for visa-free travel starting June 2025 , reported informalnewz.com.
The move is expected to reduce travel costs and enhance tourism between the two nations
-
The initiative stems from strong ties between India and Russia, with India recognized as a priority market
-
Visa-free entry aims to enhance tourism and deepen bilateral relations. Discussions for a bilateral agreement to reduce visa restrictions have been ongoing, with India already eligible for e-visas since August 2023
In 2023, Russia issued 9,500 e-visas to Indian travelers, making India one of the top five countries utilizing the e-visa system. Over 60,000 Indians visited Moscow that year, marking a 26 percent increase from 2022. Nearly 1,700 e-visas were issued in the first quarter of 2024 alone.
Russia’s visa-free tourist exchange program already includes travelers from China and Iran. Extending this privilege to India is expected to significantly boost tourism and economic engagement. For Indian travelers, the new policy promises to simplify travel plans while fostering cultural and business exchanges
