Currently serving as Ambassador to Vietnam, Arya will soon take charge in Thimphu
Sandeep Arya, a 1994-batch Indian Foreign Service officer, has been appointed as the Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Bhutan. He is presently serving as India’s Ambassador to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Arya is expected to assume his new role in Thimphu shortly.
The appointment comes as part of India’s continued efforts to strengthen its close diplomatic and strategic partnership with Bhutan, which spans cooperation in trade, connectivity, energy, and cultural exchanges
India and Bhutan share a special relationship, with New Delhi playing a key role in Thimphu’s development and regional engagement. Arya’s diplomatic experience in Asia is expected to further enhance this partnership.
