International orders from the Middle East drive expansion of major Indian companies
A surge in contracts from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar is accelerating the growth of Indian infrastructure companies, with international order books of major firms nearly doubling in recent years, according to a report by the Economic Times, reported zawya.com.
Energy, transport, and urban development projects are driving demand.
Leading companies like Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Afcons Infrastructure, KEC International, and Tata Projects are among the biggest beneficiaries of this trend, with large-scale projects fueling their overseas expansion.
Rising International Orders
L&T’s international orders accounted for 42 percent of its $65-billion order book as of December 31, 2024, reflecting annual growth of 25 to 35 percent over the past three years.
KEC International, a part of the RPG Group, has witnessed a twofold increase in international orders for transmission and distribution projects in the last two years.
The influx of contracts from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries is largely focused on energy, transport, and urban development initiatives, cementing the Middle East’s role as a critical market for Indian infrastructure firms\
Expanding Footprint
Indian infrastructure firms are leveraging these opportunities to expand their global footprint, with ongoing mega-projects in Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative, the UAE’s advanced transport systems, and Qatar’s urban transformation plans playing a significant role in driving growth.
