Saudi Arabia visa update: Pre-verification now mandatory for Indian applicants

Indians applying for Saudi work visas must complete a qualification pre-verification process

PRAVASISAMWAD.COM

Saudi Arabia has introduced a new requirement for Indian nationals seeking work visas. Applicants must now undergo pre-verification of their professional and academic qualifications as part of Saudi Arabia’s efforts to streamline its labor sector in alignment with the Vision 2030 initiative, reported msn.com.

Streamlining the labor market with pre-verification

Indians form the second-largest expatriate group in Saudi Arabia, with over 2.4 million workers. This new pre-verification process, proposed six months ago, aims to manage the influx of workers, address the capacity of training centers, and uphold professional standards in the labor market.

Step-by-Step Guide to Apply for a Saudi Work Visa

  • Obtain a job offer: Secure employment with a Saudi-based company willing to sponsor you
  • Receive an invitation letter: Your employer will provide a certified letter from the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and the Saudi Chamber of Commerce
  • Prepare documents: Required paperwork includes:

o          Passport with 6-month validity and 2 blank pages

o          Completed visa application form

o          Two passport-sized photos

o          Signed employment contract

o          Attested educational and professional certificates

o          Medical fitness certificate

o          Police clearance certificate

Submit the application:

  • Apply through the nearest Saudi embassy or consulate
  • Make payment: Visa fees range from SAR 2,000 (INR 43,800) for single-entry to SAR 7,000 (INR 1,53,300) for two years. Employers typically cover the cost of mandatory health insurance
  • Travel and obtain Iqama: After approval, travel to Saudi Arabia, where your employer will assist in securing an Iqama (residency permit) within ninety days

Regulatory Updates for Expats in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia has also revised rules for renewing Iqama and extending exit and re-entry visas, offering greater flexibility for dependents and domestic workers outside the kingdom.

These changes aim to improve the experience for Indian workers while ensuring professional standards in Saudi Arabia’s evolving labor market.
