Private sector workers in Saudi Arabia may get two days weekly off after authority’s approval of an ongoing study of the country’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development in this regard.
“The ministry is keen on taking all the measures that serve the interests of the workers and the labour market in a way that contributes to achieving the government’s objectives and the labour market strategy in light of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030,” Saad Al-Hammad, ministry spokesperson.

The demand for tow-day weekly off or five-day working in private sector is under consideration of the government to make public sector attractive for Saudi nationals, reported Saudi Gazette.
“If there are any developments related to the ministry, it will be published via its official website as well as its social media accounts,” said the ministry spokesperson.
The report quoted Kholoud Al-Ahmadi, lawyer and legal consultant as saying, “Article 98 of the Labour Law affirms that it is not permissible for a worker to work for more than eight hours a day, if an employer adopts the daily criterion; or more than 48 hours per week, if weekly criterion is adopted. Working during Ramadan is six hours per day, or 36 hours per week.”
