SCCI’s trade mission to India holds “Sharjah-India Business Forum” in Chennai

The trade mission will continue its journey with a business forum in Mumbai, focusing on furthering collaborative efforts between SCCI members and leaders from commercial and industrial chambers

Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has launched its trade mission to India with the inauguration of the Sharjah-India Business Forum in Chennai on May 7th, 2024. The event, attended by over 160 representatives from participating companies and more than 100 Indian firms across various sectors, reflects SCCI’s commitment to strengthening Emirati business presence in the Indian market, Emirates News Agency WAM reported.

The forum aims to foster bilateral partnerships, open new export avenues for Emirati enterprises, and facilitate communication channels between SCCI members and key stakeholders in India. It also serves as a platform to showcase investment opportunities in Sharjah across diverse sectors.

Among the distinguished attendees were HE Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, HE Waleed Abdul Rahman Bukhatir, Second Vice Chairman of SCCI Board of Directors, and HE Ziyad Mohmoud Khairalla, Board Member Honorary Treasurer at SCCI. Additionally, notable figures such as Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, Assistant Director-General for Communication and Business Sector at SCCI, and Lalu Samuel, Chairman of the Indian Business and Professional Council in Sharjah, were present.

As part of the trade mission, SCCI officials engaged in comprehensive discussions with organizations such as the Madras Electrical Traders Association Chennai and Guidance Tamil Nadu to enhance cooperation in energy and electrical industries and bolster economic ties between the two nations

During the forum, discussions centered on aligning efforts with trade and industrial chambers in Chennai to attract more Indian investors to Sharjah and facilitate global expansion for businesses based in the emirate. Al Owais emphasized the robust UAE-India ties, projecting bilateral trade to reach US$250 billion by 2030 and highlighting the UAE as India’s seventh largest investor.

Bilateral meetings between SCCI delegates and their Indian counterparts explored avenues for cooperation and investment partnerships. Emirati companies showcased their offerings, signaling potential business collaborations.
