Young boys mocked, photographed, and attempted to rob Indian-origin man at a Dublin bus stop, sparking outrage amid rising racial incidents in Ireland
Amid growing concerns over racial attacks against Indians in Ireland, a 60-year-old Indian man was harassed by two young boys while waiting at a bus stop in Dublin with his daughters. The disturbing incident took place at bus stop number 7553, located at Parkpointe Shopping Centre, as they waited for a bus to Sallynoggin, reported gujaratsamachar.com.
Sharing the ordeal on Reddit, the man’s daughter wrote that the boys, believed to be around 7–8 years old, initially joked about taking selfies but soon escalated their behaviour. They clicked a photo of her father’s face while mocking him and showing a middle finger. The situation turned alarming when one of them tried to snatch his wallet.
The children mocked the elderly man, took selfies, showed obscene gestures, and even attempted to steal his wallet in front of his daughters.

Feeling unsafe, the family considered abandoning their travel plans and returning home
Frustrated by the lack of accountability for such behaviour, the woman wrote: “Knowing the current climate for people of colour in Ireland and being aware of the laws, it was frustrating not to have any immediate recourse. The government must react and reconsider the law so that children can be held accountable when warranted. No one should have to feel unsafe or powerless in public spaces.”
The incident comes amid heightened concerns after violent attacks on Indians in Ireland. On Saturday, the Embassy of Ireland in New Delhi condemned these attacks, calling them an “assault on equality and human dignity.” The embassy reaffirmed that racism and xenophobia have no place in Irish society, emphasising the contributions of over 100,000 Indians who now call Ireland home.
