New Delhi: Since its release on Thursday, Sept 7, Shah Rukh Khan’s latest film, ‘Jawan’, has been rewriting all records at the box office, including achieving the highest opening day collection for a Hindi film, a report in the Deccan Chronicle, says.
.Reports indicate that Khan is poised to become the first Indian actor to have two 1000 crore-grossing movies in the same year. ‘Jawan’ currently racing towards the 500 crore mark in its opening week, is expected to cross the Rs 1000 crore milestone at the box office. This would be Shah Rukh Khan’s second film to achieve this record, with his movie ‘Pathaan’ having crossed the milestone in January 2023.
Although SRK is set to be the first actor with two 1000 crore films to his name, director SS Rajamouli was the first to cross this remarkable milestone with the release of his films Baahubali 2 and RRR.
Jawan had a spectacular start at the Indian box office, amassing Rs 65.50 crores on its opening day and a staggering Rs 129.6 crore worldwide. This marked a historic opening day for Indian cinema.
On Day 2, Red Chillies Entertainment, the film’s production house, proudly announced that the movie had crossed the Rs 240 crore mark at the international box office.
The film continued its record-breaking streak, registering the highest Saturday collection ever, with an estimated Rs 67 crore nett at the domestic box office.
The numbers are expected to soar even higher on Sunday, with advance bookings already surpassing the Rs 40 crore mark.
Directed by Atlee, Jawan stars Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, and Vijay Sethupathi in lead roles, with Deepika Padukone making a guest appearance. In addition to this blockbuster, SRK is gearing up for his next film, Dunki, directed by Rajkumar Hirani and starring Taapsee Pannu.
