Sharjah International Airport has strengthened its growing network with India by launching direct flights to Ahmedabad, one of Gujarat’s most important cultural and commercial centres. The new route is operated by Indian low-cost carrier SpiceJet and reflects the airport’s ongoing efforts to deepen air links with India, one of its largest and fastest-growing markets.

The service operates five times a week, with flights scheduled on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Departures leave Ahmedabad at 08:20, arriving in Sharjah at 10:20. The return flight departs Sharjah at 12:00 and lands back in Ahmedabad at 16:40. Return fares start from around AED 900, making the route an affordable option for both leisure and business travellers.

  • Ahmedabad, the largest city in Gujarat, is known for its rich history, vibrant culture and diverse cuisine

  • Popular attractions include the Sabarmati Riverfront, Bhadra Fort and the historic Adalaj Stepwell, a 15th-century architectural landmark famous for its detailed stone carvings

SpiceJet said the new route responds to rising travel demand between India and the UAE, driven by tourism, trade and the large Indian expatriate community. Sharjah is already a key gateway for Indian travellers, with around 25 daily flights to cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Surat.

The launch also comes at a time of strong growth for Sharjah International Airport. The airport handled nearly 19.5 million passengers in 2025, up significantly from previous years, supported by network expansion and new airline partnerships. Recent route additions include several European, Asian and Middle Eastern destinations, with more long-haul services planned in 2026.
