Sheikha Hanoof bint Thani Al-Thani from Qatar recently completed the London Marathon 2021 and also managed to break multiple national records, a report in The Peninsula, Doha says.
Congratulating her the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) shared pictures of her holding the Qatar national flag on social media. In an instagram post the QOC said “Well Done Hanoof … A new achievement for Qatari women, reflecting the meaning of determination and commitment in London.”
Their post also said that she’d broken nine national records – in the 5km, 10km, 15km, half marathon, 10 miles, 30km, and marathon distances. As runner number 50158, Sheikha Hanoof’s finish time in the race was 04:23:30.
The 2021 London Marathon returned to the streets of the capital on October 3 after 889 days.
Kenya’s Joyciline Jepkosgei won her first London Marathon title with an impressive world lead of 2 hours 17 minutes and 43 seconds while Ethiopia’s Sisay Lemma took the men’s honours clocking 2:04:01secs.
Around 40,000 people took part in the London Marathon, moved from its usual April date due to the coronavirus. Further major marathons take place this month next Sunday in Chicago and on October 11 in Boston.
