After juggling multiple tech jobs, Soham Parekh says he’s committing full-time to an AI startup and leaving moonlighting behind
Indian engineer and self-confessed serial moonlighter Soham Parekh has announced his next career move after months of controversy over working multiple tech jobs at once. In a candid interview with The Backpedal Network (TBPN), Parekh revealed that he’s joining Darwin Studios, an AI startup, and this time, he’s committing fully, reported hindustantimes.com.
“I’m really excited about what I’m going to be part of next,” Parekh told host Jordi Hays. “Working with a company called Darwin, they’re essentially building a new AI-driven data and video platform for UGC-style media. This is the only thing I’m going to focus on. They’ve put a bet on me, and I have a lot to prove.”
Darwin Studios, as per its website, is developing personalized AI media experiences, targeting the future of user-generated content.
“It was never about greed, said Parekh.”
In the interview, Parekh also addressed the controversy surrounding his past moonlighting.
“I come from Mumbai. I was supposed to complete my graduation in the US, but due to financial issues, that couldn’t happen,” he explained.
He said after finally securing a job in America, he began working multiple roles to make ends meet. “My financial situation didn’t change much… I know my decisions seem counterintuitive, but I always took lower pay, higher equity offers,” he added. “It was never about greed — I just wanted to build.”
Tech World Watching His Next Move
The tech world has been closely following Parekh’s journey. Known for his talent and controversial choices, his new role at Darwin Studios could mark a turning point in his career. TBPN host Jordi Hays even suggested Parekh could start his own dev shop and attract clients instantly, reflecting how much visibility his story has brought him.
But Parekh insists he’s looking ahead with focus. “There’s not a lot more for me to say. I just want to prove myself now.”
