Vasundhara Oswal, a Swiss-Indian businesswoman and executive director of Pro Industries, was recently imprisoned in Uganda under what her family describes as “fabricated charges.” Her father, industrialist Pankaj Oswal, alleges that her detention stems from corporate and political manipulation, driven by a former employee who stole valuable assets and significant funds.
According to Pankaj Oswal, his daughter was held in inhumane conditions for over 90 hours. During this period, Vasundhara was denied access to her family and legal counsel. Her phone was confiscated, leading to an anxiety attack that Ugandan authorities allegedly ignored. Despite the lack of evidence, she remains unlawfully detained.
The Oswal family continues to seek justice, calling for international intervention to secure Vasundhara’s release and address the corporate misconduct that led to her arrest
In response, Oswal has filed an urgent appeal with the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention. He claims Vasundhara endured degrading treatment during interrogation, all part of a corporate rivalry aimed at damaging her reputation and career.
Vasundhara’s sister, through a social media post, echoed these concerns, stating that her sister’s detention was based on “fake charges” fabricated by corrupt officials. She suggested that jealousy played a role in the situation, with a 68-year-old business rival attempting to undermine Vasundhara’s rapid success in the industry.
