Reacting to the long delays and issues faced by the travel trade for visas and appointments, the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) has asked the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to seek assistance on various issues faced by tour operators and travel agents.
The association has sent a letter to Minister of External Affairs Dr S Jaishankar pointing out that it has been receiving inputs and feedback from its members from across India regarding various travel facilitation related issues faced by Indian travellers, especially pertaining to visas, reported ETTravelWorld.
“We believe that it is a stage where government-to-government dialogue is much needed. And, therefore, we are writing to your kind self to please look into the matter and do the needful.”
“We are writing this to inform you and to bring to your kind notice the challenges such as delay in issuance of visa and securing an appointment to apply; and related aspects of travelling to the United States and Schengen countries. At first, we approached the organisations who have been intermediaries for a long time now facilitating visas, and they facilitated their best possible support. However, we wish to convey that member issues have not been addressed, as we believe that it is a stage where government-to-government dialogue is much needed. And, therefore, we are writing to your kind self to please look into the matter and do the needful,” mentioned Jyoti Mayal, President, TAAI.
The association has sought a in-person meeting with Minister Jaishankar so that a TAAI delegation can present its perspective and familiarise the concerned departments with the challenges faced by the travel trade fraternity, especially TAAI members at the ground level.
