Nearly 47,000 Indians visited Taiwan in 2025, more than 20 per cent higher than in 2024 and above pre-pandemic levels

With India’s outbound travel crossing 30 million in 2024, Taiwan is clearly aiming to capture a larger share of this growing market
Taiwan is stepping up efforts to attract Indian travellers, positioning itself as a premium destination for leisure, business and MICE travel. The Taiwan Tourism Administration (TTA), under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, led its largest-ever delegation to India in February 2026 to strengthen tourism and cultural ties.

The high-level delegation included two Taiwanese airlines, seven travel agencies and cultural performance groups

The visit reflects Taiwan’s focus on India’s fast-growing outbound market and follows a steady 20 per cent annual rise in Indian arrivals to the island
The outreach began with a Taiwan Tourism Workshop in New Delhi, attended by more than 100 travel trade professionals and media representatives. Officials presented Taiwan’s high-end leisure experiences, strong infrastructure for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE), and customised travel options tailored for Indian visitors.
The delegation then took part in the Outbound Travel Mart (OTM) in Mumbai, one of South Asia’s largest travel trade exhibitions. Through business meetings, cultural showcases and interactive displays, Taiwan highlighted its appeal as a safe and efficient Asian destination.
Officials emphasised Taiwan’s low crime rate, reliable public transport and high hospitality standards. These factors are seen as especially attractive to solo women travellers and high-value tourists seeking comfort and security.
Speaking in New Delhi, Dr Mumin Chen, Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India, invited Indians to explore Taiwan’s mix of modern cities and natural beauty. From mountain ranges and forests to dramatic coastlines, Taiwan offers varied landscapes within a compact and easily accessible area.
