A tragic incident in Saudi Arabia’s Rub’ al Khali desert has claimed the lives of a 27-year-old man from Telangana, India, and his Sudanese colleague. Mohammed Shehzad Khan, a resident of Karimnagar, Telangana, had been working with a telecommunications company in Saudi Arabia for three years when he and his colleague lost their way in the desert after their GPS signal failed.

The situation deteriorated quickly when Shehzad’s phone battery died, leaving them unable to call for help. Their vehicle soon ran out of fuel, and the men were stranded without food or water in the extreme heat of the Empty Quarter, one of the harshest environments in the world. The Rub’ al Khali desert, which spans over 650 kilometers across Saudi Arabia and into neighboring countries, is notorious for its unforgiving conditions.

Despite their efforts to survive, the two men succumbed to dehydration and exhaustion. Their bodies were discovered four days later, lying next to their stalled vehicle on a prayer mat in the sand dunes. The Free Press Journal reported that the stalled car forced them to venture into the desert on foot, a decision that ultimately proved fatal.
