Diaspora Members Celebrate Unity, Culture, and Hope in Bhubaneswar

Hope and Heritage: Reflections from the Diaspora
Sobhana Jaya Madhavan, a delegate from Canada, shared, “I’m delighted to be here at the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas. The Indian story, for me, is one of hope, a testament to what unity and hard work can achieve.” Mukund Purohit, a Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awardee, added, “This platform is a great opportunity for networking and reconnecting with Indian culture.”
A Celebration of Bonds and Progress
Kiran Asher from Oman reflected on his journey, “Since 2013, I’ve been part of these events. Today feels extraordinary, especially with PM Modi participating.” Alkesh Joshi, another delegate from Oman, emphasized the historic India-Oman ties, saying,
“We’re here to celebrate 5,000 years of friendship. PM Modi’s vision ensures that the next decade belongs to India.”
Three Days of Dialogue and Celebration
The event began with the inauguration of the Youth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas by Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. Delegates participated in plenary sessions on diaspora contributions to India’s development.
Prime Minister Modi is set to inaugurate exhibitions and visit promotional stalls by ministries and states. The convention concludes on January 10 with President Droupadi Murmu’s valedictory address and the conferral of the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards.
