Punjabi University V-C expressed willingness to expand campuses in different parts of the world with the help of the Punjabi diaspora
An interactive session with the members of NRI Sabha was organised by the Centre for Diaspora Studies, Punjabi University with a view to bridging the gap between native Punjabis and the migrant Punjabi community, which include NRIs and people of Indian origin.
The NRI Sabha representatives from many countries took part in the session. Punjabi University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Arvind attended the session and expressed commitment to promote knowledge sharing and better dialogue with the community.
He expressed the university’s willingness to expand in different parts of the world with the help of the Punjabi diaspora spread all over the world.
The NRI Sabha members stressed the need to raise the educational institutions’ quality bar and include courses related to Punjabi art, culture, and language.
Joginder Singh Bhangalia, an NRI representative of the Gulf countries, called for proper academic and educational channels to encourage third and fourth generation young Punjabis remain connected to their roots.

NRI Sabha representative from the UK, Shaminder Singh Garcha, also called for better dialogue among the community members.
He appreciated the initiative of the Centre for Diaspora Studies of Punjab University to establish better dialogue between the native Punjabis and those who live abroad for their livelihood, business or many other reasons.
Executive members of the NRI Sabha, Jagbir Singh and Meva Singh, sought the university’s involvement to organise annual meetings of the NRI Sabha.
