The third edition of NISAU’s UK-India Achievers Honours is officially underway, celebrating the remarkable contributions of Indian alumni who studied in the UK and went on to achieve significant milestones, thepienews.com reported.
With nominations now open, this annual initiative aims to showcase the impact of these talented individuals, fostering the longstanding educational and cultural ties between the UK and India.
Founded by Sanam Arora, the National Indian Students and Alumni Union (NISAU) has developed the Achievers Honours to spotlight exceptional Indian talent nurtured in the UK. Arora shared her enthusiasm for the third edition, describing it as the “most impactful yet.” The awards program reflects NISAU’s dedication to celebrating the power of education in bridging international boundaries and fostering a shared cultural heritage.
This event promises to be a grand celebration of the accomplishments of Indian alumni and a testament to the enduring connection between the UK and India, fostered through education and cultural exchange
A launch event for the awards was held in the prestigious setting of the UK House of Lords on November 4. The gathering coincided with Diwali, symbolizing a celebration of light and the illuminating stories of Indian students who have succeeded in the UK. Addressing the audience, Arora said, “We gather in this historic institution to launch a program that has become a symbol of the enduring bond between our two countries.” She emphasized the transformative impact of Indian alumni who have excelled across fields such as academia, entrepreneurship, and community leadership.
Prominent figures who support the India-UK educational connection also attended the launch. Lord Bilimoria, co-chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for international students, highlighted India’s prominence on the global stage, noting that the world is watching India emerge as a significant economic and cultural influence.
Sir Steve Smith, the UK’s International Education Champion, reinforced the UK government’s commitment to international students, particularly Indian students, by reiterating that their contributions are invaluable. Smith emphasized the UK’s dedication to international education partnerships and promised that India would remain a priority within the UK’s strategy for educational diplomacy.
