Building Lasting Peace Together: A Shared Vision for the Future
Namaskar and good morning. It is a pleasure to return to Mumbai, a city that has touched my heart over the years. As U.S. Ambassador, this is my 13th visit to Maharashtra. Mumbai, with its rich cultural, economic, and strategic significance, serves as a window to India’s past, present, and future. As I reflect on the enduring ties between our nations, I am reminded of the importance of peace-building, which is a daily effort , reported usembassy.gov.
Peace is not a one-time achievement, but an ongoing journey, requiring constant commitment and action from both India and the United States.
The U.S.-India relationship is one of deep mutual respect, with shared values of democracy and global responsibility.
As President Jimmy Carter’s legacy shows, peace requires dedication, whether it’s in the Middle East or through his humanitarian work. India’s role as a strategic partner has only grown, from defense cooperation to joint military exercises, with both nations now working together to combat threats like terrorism and trafficking.
The U.S. and India are not just bilateral partners, but two democracies united in the pursuit of a peaceful, prosperous, and secure world.
Both nations share a commitment to global peace, fighting against terrorism, and building economies. Through increased defense collaboration, technological innovation, and people-to-people ties, the U.S. and India have built a robust partnership. From strengthening the defense infrastructure to creating economic opportunities, both countries continue to work toward a future of shared prosperity, demonstrating that their partnership is not additive but multiplicative.
