An Indian-origin manager at a Tim Hortons outlet in Ontario, Canada, has been fired after allegedly offering a teenage co-worker ₹13 lakh to marry her brother in order to secure his permanent residency in Canada, reported gujaratsamachar.com.

The 17-year-old employee revealed screenshots of her conversation with the manager in a Facebook post, showing that the offer was made over Snapchat. The messages allegedly included questions like, “Do you want Indian bf?” and noted that the brother, aged 25, was seeking a Canadian citizen girlfriend for PR purposes. The manager reportedly promised between $15,000–$20,000 (around ₹13 lakh) in return for the arrangement.

The manager allegedly used Snapchat to propose a cash-for-marriage scheme to a 17-year-old employee

The teenager’s uncle, Matt Monroe, condemned the proposal in a Facebook post before reporting the matter to the Ontario Provincial Police.

Tim Hortons addressed the controversy in a statement, clarifying that its restaurants are owned and operated by independent franchisees. “The restaurant owner terminated the manager involved soon after he became aware of the completely unacceptable situation on his team,” the release read.
