Senior diplomat to take charge of India’s mission in Hanoi soon
Tshering Wangchuk Sherpa, presently serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Sherpa is expected to assume his new diplomatic assignment in Hanoi shortly.
A seasoned diplomat with over two decades of service, Tshering Wangchuk Sherpa has represented India in various capacities, contributing to strengthening bilateral and multilateral engagements
His appointment to Vietnam comes at a time when New Delhi and Hanoi are deepening strategic, economic, and cultural ties in the Indo-Pacific region.
India and Vietnam enjoy a comprehensive strategic partnership, with cooperation spanning defense, trade, technology, energy, and people-to-people exchanges. Sherpa’s leadership is expected to further enhance collaboration between the two nations, particularly in the context of maritime security and regional connectivity.
